2019 Graduation Guidelines for North Mac High School
Location: Sangamon Auditorium on the University of Illinois at Springfield campus
Graduation Date/Time: May 18, 2019 at 3:00 p.m.
Graduation Practice Date/Time: May 1, 2019 at 9:00 a.m. in the Library
Doors open for guest seating at: 2:00 p.m.
Students meet at UIS: 2:00 p.m.
Band/Chorus members meet at UIS: 1:30 p.m.
North Mac and UIS Guidelines:
Graduation practice will take place in the high school library on May 1, 2019 at 9:00 a.m. Seniors need to bring their caps and gowns to practice for their class photo.
Graduation will be held on May 18th at 3:00 p.m. Students must arrive at UIS by 2:00 p.m. and enter through the Stage Door under the blue awning located on the west side of the auditorium. On May 18th, we will offer a student shuttle bus to and from UIS if the office is contacted by May 10, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. Students will meet in the lower level of the auditorium to line up and to get their caps and gowns on. No one will cross the stage without their cap and gown.
Guest parking lots will include lots E, D and C. Parking will be free of charge. If you need handicap parking, please use the tear drop parking lot between lots D and C. Guest will enter the auditorium through the lobby area and ushers will seat you. The ushers will be handing you a ticket for the purpose of keeping track of how many guests are in attendance. They will also hand out our programs for the ceremony.
Row B in the very front will be saved for Pre K-12 faculty and staff. Row A will be left open for guests to move up and take quick photos and then you will need to return to your seat. No tri-pods will be allowed in the auditorium. If you would like to video tape the graduation ceremony, you may do so from your seat. There will be a coat check once you enter the lobby area. UIS will not allow glitter, confetti, noise makers, silly string, balloons, flower arrangements or large objects that may obstruct the view of others. If additional clean-up is required from UIS after the event, the senior class will be charged. There is no smoking allowed in the auditorium.
The stage will consist of graduating seniors, band members, administration, and board of education members. If anyone is removed, they will lose the privilege of participating, even if the individual has already been seated on the stage. The facilities at UIS are considered an extension of the North Mac School District and all rules and policies that apply at North Mac campus are enforceable on the UIS campus. From North Mac School District: Head north on Interstate 55, take the Toronto Road exit East past CACC, turn left on 11th street, turn right on University Drive, turn left on Eliza Farnham Drive, go through the 1st stop sign and you will see parking lots E, D and C with the Sangamon Auditorium on the right hand side. Between parking lot D and C there will be a right turn to the Tear Drop area for handicap drop off.
