Classroom News

The school year is coming to a finish, but it isn't over. I asked the students if they had ever seen a race. We discussed that the runners run even faster at they get closer to the finish line. Therefore, we are continuing to work hard these last few weeks. However, we do have some special events to look forward to this month.
On Wednesday, May 9th we will be having an all-school assembly called The Ned Show. The show is designed to use entertaining character education to improve student behavior, attitude, and academic achievement. You can learn more about it by clicking on this link to their website The Ned Show .
On Thursday, May 10th the second grade classes will be going on a field trip. We will be traveling by bus to Springfield to see the Illinois State Museum, Lincoln's Home, and Southwinds Park. The students should wear walking shoes and bring a sack lunch with a drink. They do not need any money. We will not be visiting the souvenir shops. Buses will be leaving around 8:30a.m. that morning. I want to thank all of the adults who have volunteered to chaperone this field trip.
The class is in the final stages of preparing to present our play, Vacation to Mars. They are doing a wonderful job and I can't wait to see them perform it for an audience. It is such a wonderful experience for them. We plan to invite guests to come view the play during the week on May 18th . A note will be coming home on May 8th.

Please check your child's agenda each night to see which light they were

child had difficulty with that day. The agenda is a great way for us to
communicate about any behavior concerns. Always feel free to call or
e-mail me as well. Thank you for your cooperation. It makes all the difference!

Keep reading at home! Four students from our class have their names on the second grade reading tree for reading over 5 hours at home. One student has read over 40 hours!
