Information and Events for Juniors

*October 2nd - Capital Area Education Fair Permission Slip

Juniors have the opportunity to participate in the Capital Area Education Fair at the Illinois State Fairgrounds.  This is a chance for our students to talk with several different college representatives and to start gathering information about colleges and post secondary options.  Permission slips are due to Mrs. McQueen by September 24th

*October 16th - PSAT/NMSQT Exam

The PSAT/NMSQT exam is aligned to the SAT exam and helps propel students towards college and career readiness.  The cost is $17.00 to take the exam and can be paid before or on test day.  If a student is interested in taking the PSAT/NMSQT, please have them let Mrs. McQueen know by September 16th.  Extra test can not be ordered after that date.  Study guides are available in Mrs. McQueen's office.

*October 22nd - Work Based Learning Presentation at 10:00am

Juniors will listen to a presentation about job shadowing opportunities from Taylor Cook.  Taylor is from the Regional Office of Career and Technical Education in Springfield.  She will give the juniors some information on the program she offers and how to sign up to be involved.  Her program helps place students in job shadowing areas for a day experience.  This is a great resource for Juniors to use as they are starting to think about careers and post secondary options.  Applications will be uploaded at the conclusion of the presentation.

*November 13th - Building Trades Career Day

This is a great opportunity for students who want to go straight into the trade workforce after high school.  Representatives from several trades and unions will be on hand at this event so students can talk to them about their requirements and helpful tips for joining their profession.

*April 14th - SAT exam

All juniors will be taking the SAT exam during regular school hours on this date.  NO CELL PHONES allowed.  Please bring sharpened #2 pencils (NO MECHANICAL), and a small snack and drink.  More information will be sent home with the students closer to testing time.
