Biography
Welcome to 5th grade!
My name is Dawn McFarland, and I am excited to be a part of the intermediate school staff. This is my twentieth year of teaching. The majority of my career has been spent at the 5th-8th grade level. This year, I am teaching reading/language arts and math. I will be working with students to hone their ability to research, read, and comprehend literature and informational text. In math, we will be continuing our study of place value with the addition of decimal place value, multiplying and dividing whole numbers, working with decimals, fractions, and geometrical concepts just to name a few!
On a more personal note...my husband, Shawn and I have two children, Joselyn, age 14, and Gage, age 10. As a family, we enjoy doing things outdoors. Our favorite places to enjoy the outdoors are Grafton,Illinois, and Holland, Michigan. Other hobbies I enjoy include exercising, DIY projects, attending flea markets, and upcycling furniture.
I am certain this year will be a great year full of learning adventures and discoveries! Let's have a great year!
