Children are my happy place.  Watching them grow, discover, and strive to learn makes this the most rewarding profession.  I have been blessed to work with children in this district since 1995.  I have worked in Title, taught art, gifted education, 3rd grade, 2nd grade, and spent 10 years as a kindergarten teacher.  At the time of consolidation, I served 3 years as Dean of Students for the Intermediate School.  Currently, I am Principal and Pre-K Director for North Mac Elementary.  I am from  Auburn, and also taught 6th grade, 3rd grade, and art there for a few years.  I received my BS degree in Elementary Education from ISU and later my MS degree in Administration from EIU.  The greatest highlight of my life is being the mother of two wonderful daughters; Kelsey, a 5th grade teacher for North Mac Intermediate, and Katy, an Esthetician at BJ Grand West Salon.  My husband and I have a black lab named Blaze, and two kitties named Cubbie and Lucy.  Other than working with children and being a life-long learner, some of my favorite past-times include working in my yard, walking, swimming, boating, Zumba, reading, and  spending time with my girls.  I strive to work hard, be nice, and do great things, just as we say together every morning.  It takes everyone, every day to make our school the best!

I earned a Bachelor's in Early Childhood Education with an endorsement in Special Education at Illinois State University.  I met my husband, Matt, while attending Illinois State.  After college we lived in Chicago where I was a Developmental Therapist for Early Intervention.  After a couple of years in Chicago, we decided to get married and move back closer to family.  In 2000 I became the Early Childhood Teacher at Virden Elementary.  We welcomed Hunter in 2001 and Makenna in 2003.  We moved to Virden in 2004 and remain in the district.  We spends our time at North Mac sport events as Hunter and Makenna are both involved in several sports.   I knew I wanted to work with young children and teaching seemed to be a great fit.  It has been a blessing to live and work in the district as I have watched past students grow up with my own children.
